10 months - Update

Wow, well on the 23rd of January, Zachary turned 10 months, and so I thought it was time to do an update of his current passtimes and interests:
(Check back in the next few days to see 10 mos pictures - you'll be able to click the title of the post to get to the KodakGallery album)

These days, Zach:
- crawls WAY too fast.
- has learned to pull himself up to a standing position AND "cruise" along furniture and walls, etc.
- zips into the bathroom at every opportunity, and is thrilled to dip his fingers into the toilet bowl water...ERG! (we need to get faster, obviously).
- enjoys opening the cupboards to the entertainment center and pulling out all the CDs and DVDs.
- LOVES Sumo! He chases him around the house, crawls under the end table and up to the chairs to get at the kitty.
- goes for walks on the sidewalk and inside, round and round the living area, using his push-car (or an empty diaper box).
- eats all the jarred baby foods (without preservatives) as well as cut up ham, turkey, fruit rolls, apples, and whatever he can pick up off the floor.
- is working on getting is 2nd tooth! (The first came in on Sunday, the 29th of January; see future post.) Poor guy is drooling up a storm, and the moisture on his chin and under his pacifier has caused little patches of dry, red skin. :(
- LOVES bathtime! He stands up in the tub, walks around the sides, and has fun pulling toys out of the water, hanging them over the edge of the tub to watch the water drip to the floor. He even tolerates Dad's dunking and squirting water in his face!
- romps on our bed after baths. He does little baby gymnasticalisthenics or something, rolling onto his head and flopping around, etc.
- wears #3 diapers, though we've had a few "incidents," so maybe it's time to move to #4s.
- drinks apple/carrot (yum?) juice like a fiend.
- wakes in the morning at about 7:00 takes a good 1.5 hour nap in the morning, and another 1.5 to 2 hour nap in the afternoon, eats dinner, has a bedtime bottle in time to drift off to sleep at about 8pm. Can you hear his parents' more fitfull ZZZs these days?
- plays with all his noise-making toys. He especially loves his piano/tambourine/drum/horn, his giant block organizer cube, and his bedtime elephant, "I am your elephant, flopping my ears..."
- sneaks in some TV watching - he especially likes the [Honk] You can store all this at public storage for just one dollar.... commercial.
- spends time oogling all the other cute girls (and boys, and moms and dads, and grandparents, and balloons) at the grocery store, "eeeh-ing" if they don't notice him.
- goes to lunch with Mom and her friends, although the experience isn't quite as quiet as it used to be.
- is a rocket climbing up the stairs. (Gate is in place now)
- likes to be tickled (and giggle) on his ribs, thighs and under his chin.
- can grab things off the kitchen table!
- has learned to stand, unassisted, for a few seconds at a time.
- may know "Dada" but is nowhere near knowing "Mama."
- rides in his (still rear-facing) new carseat.
- is entertained by the doorstops and air intake grids on the walls.
- can hang onto a big, heavy Calphalon pan while Mommy relocates him away from the pan cupboard...
- is like the cat, and motors his way over to the fridge when the door opens. There are so many colorful containers in there!
- has pulled the garbage out of the can, dumped a carton of barley on the floor, and of course pulled cookie sheets, tupperware, bowls, the rice cooker, and the sifter (it DOES make a lovely echoing sound when you gahhhhh into it) out of cupboards...oh little boys!
- somehow remains darn cute, in the eyes of his parents.

Mysterious Snow Tracks

Pre-Birthday Office Decorations

Zach wanted to decorate his dad's office for his birthday. So, who was I to intervene?

Scott was surprised when he got into the office today.

SNEAKY ZACHARY!!

Sun and Snow

It has been a weather-crazy January. We've had a consistent, blustery wind, days of 60+ degrees F, and then today dropped on us about 8 inches of snow...so far. It's a beautiful snow! I love when the ground and trees are covered. The night is light.

At about midday, Scott shoveled before leaving. By 2pm, Zach and I decided to shovel again. He was such a patient shoveler. I set him in the mound of snow on the side of the driveway, and he sat there watching for a while. But when I got out of site, he had to come see where I'd gone. The descent led to a face-plant or two. :( Luckily, with the snowsuit, hat, pacifier, and sunglasses, very little skin was exposed. So I just brushed him off, and he was okay. :)

The link in the title of this post includes more pictures of both our sunny Sunday and snowy today.

Cade's Dad Came to Visit

James (Wedekind, my friend from high school and college) was in town to ski and was able to squeeze in a dinner with us. We foolishly served him green chili (he's married to a New Mexico native, Jessica, who has fed him the real thing!), but hopefully his Fat Tires helped round out the taste!

James's son Cade (www.jamesandjesswedekind.blogspot.com) is 5 months old. Hopefully sometime soon the little guys can play together!

Nana and Pop's Visit (click here for more pics)

Nana and Pop came back through Denver on their way home from Christmas in CA. It was fun to see them. They helped celebrate Mom and Nana's birthdays with fondue and chocolate cake.

I showed Pop how I'm combining my golf and guitar skills

Dad LOVES fondue!

AND I got to have a second first Christmas! Fun!

Happy Birthday, Grandpa Wallace! (click here)

I hope you had a wonderful day!! I wish I could have been there to help you celebrate!
Love, Zach

From Sumo 12/29/05

It's been WINDY today - which makes for great window watching. I'm the most ferocious leaf-hunter in Jefferson County. Just ask Patches.

Patches is doing well. Right now, she's in her little cat house - I don't understand how she can resist chasing those leaves...they're right next to her!

Another thing I don't understand is how that kid in our house (Zach?) can make such a stink in his pants. Boy, those diapers are foul. And Mom and Dad continue to cuddle him, although tonight when Dad got home, the kid got passed back and forth between him and Mom in a "your-turn" battle. Mom won.

The kid's alright, I guess. He's interesting to watch, and I'm still faster than him, so we make do. Every once in a while he grabs my tail or a clump of fur, which doesn't make me happy, but I'm the bigger cat, and I don't swipe at him or anything.

Well, time to beg for dinner!

OH! HAPPY BELATED ANNIVERSARY to Auntie Laura and Uncle Chris!!!

Auntie Laura's Visit

Auntie Laura came out to visit me in early December. She's so fun!
We spent time playing - she brought me a real DINOSAUR suit!

We did some shopping, and went to lunch. See my green teeth?

She and Mom had fondue while Dad was at class and I was asleep. Dad doesn't think I'll like fondue (like him), but Mom thinks I will.

I also learned to climb stairs!

I'll miss Auntie and look forward to her next visit - maybe Uncle Chris will come too!

We took this picture the day Auntie Laura left from her visit here (still need to get those pictures in, but you can take a look at Laura's blog for details: http://thelesinskisonline.blogspot.com/2005/12/my-trip-to-visit-zach-and-kjirsten-and.html)

1 Pound 5 Ounces

This is how much Zach gained in 18 days, from November 28th to his 9-month appointment on December 16th!

It must be all the cookies and egg-nog!

My First Thanksgiving (click here to see complete Ofoto album)

My First Thanksgiving - this is my "full" face. We headed to Colorado Springs to spend Turkey Day with my cousins, Aunt and Uncle and their friends.
I had some GOOD turkey - none of that "mechanically separated" stuff.

And who can do Thanksgiving without pies?!
Below: Pumpkin pie, Baby "Pie," and a baby pumpkin pie

We played!

And I played, a little after-dinner music
We had family time. Below are Alec and Derek, then cousins Tommy, Katie, and Gracie, and ME!
Auntie Steph and me
Happy Thanksgiving from the Wallaces!

(Sorry I'm not looking. I was ready for bed by 7pm.)
